The debut of the new FOSJM Art Cart will be this weekend at the Farmers Market from 10am – 1pm at ANB Hall.
Upcoming artist in residence will also have access to the cart to expand on cultural programming during their residencies. If artists wish to use the art cart, there will be pop-up demonstrations around town over the next month-and-a-half till end of the 2026 series of the Alaska Native Artist Residency Program.

Artists will be demonstrating and selling art at the market.

Larissa will be at the market with the art cart, demonstrating earring making with fish skin and interacting with visitors. Her contemporary use of tanned salmon skin will be contrasted with historical fish skin items from the SJM Hands-On Loan program. Visitors will be able to touch 100-year-old fish skin mucklucks and a remnant from a seal gut and fish skin parka.
Larissa is a Sugpiaq artist who creates jewelry and is a model boat builder. She often uses fish skin, beads, or botanicals set in resin for her earrings.
Kris Waymire (Iñupiaq & Peruvian) Saturday September 19th
Kris is a mixed media artist who creates mostly with beads and textiles. They will be demonstrating at the market.
