This is the second part of a 2-part workshop to make mask earrings with Yup’ik artist Shirley Hootch.  The workshop is 8 hours total. Participants are expected to attend both days: 4 hours on the afternoon of Friday, July 18, and 4 hours on the afternoon of Friday, July 25, 2025. This class is in-person only at Sheldon Jackson Museum. There is no zoom option available.

Limited to 6 students, participants of all ages are welcome.

The museum asks that participants attend both sessions. The class is free, but there are art supplies to purchase for the workshop. The artist is providing some of the materials. Students need to provide their own:

  1. Set of acrylic paints
  2. Small brush pack

Shirley Hootch is a Yup’ik jewelry maker who works with ivory, baleen, and wood. She is the SJM Native Artist in Residence from July 15 – August 3, 2025.
