The Share Your Culture / Share Your Research series is a program that runs through the winter or spring and focuses on subjects connected to Alaska Native cultures.
The speaker series utilizes an online presentation format to share and record Alaska Native culture. Presentations take many forms including language lessons, cooking demonstrations and recipe sharing, storytelling, insight on traditional ecological knowledge, songs, dances, and more. Presentations on sovereignty, boarding schools in Alaska, subsistence, museum collections and more are welcome.

History of the Share Your Culture / Share Your Research presenter series
The Sheldon Jackson Museum has run a winter speaker series for decades. The name “Share Your Culture/ Share Your Research” was adopted around five years ago with a shift to a predominantly online format. Before that, speakers gave presentations in person at the museum, and it was not the practice to record and upload to our online archive.
Culture bearers are selected on a competitive basis in the fall. For an application or answers to questions about the program, contact the Sheldon Jackson Museum Curator by calling 907-747-8981 or emailing Jacqueline.Fernandez-Hamberg@alaska.gov.
The Share Your Culture / Share Your Research series is underwritten by the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum and is made possible with support from the Friends, sponsors, and private donors.
