Sheldon Jackson Museum Alaska Native artist-in-residence Robert Hoffmann (Tlingit) will give a talk entitled “Where We Meet” on July 3rd at 3 pm at the museum and on Zoom. In this talk, Hoffmann (Tlingit) will look at how cultural and historical context helps us appreciate objects more fully. He will select a few artifacts from the museum’s collection to highlight this idea. Robert will also talk about the following different contexts for today’s artistic and cultural creations: political statements; cultural identification; market; self-expression, and appreciation.
