The Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum now have a Zoom account and will be streaming Alaska Native Artist Residency Talks and some Alaska Native Artist Residency Classes LIVE on Zoom!
Here is how Zoom for Friends will work in terms of our upcoming public programs: If a Zoom virtual event has no size limit and is open to the public, the Zoom link will be posted on the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum website, Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum Facebook page, and in press releases available on the Alaska State Museum website and in the local Sitka Sentinel Newspaper. The link will also be sent to folks on the public programs email list. (If you follow Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum, you will be sure to see Zoom event information, so follow and sign up for the email list.)
If a virtual event has a limit, such as class with a cap (if the artist wishes to limit the number of students he or she is working with in a class), the zoom link will only be sent to people who have registered for the class through the Sheldon Jackson Museum. People can register for classes by calling (907) 747-8981 or by emailing the Museum Curator directly at Jacqueline.Fernandez-Hamberg@alaska.gov . Any classes offered, whether they are open or capped, will likely have a materials list that students will need to prepare in advance or purchase in advance of the class. The materials list, if the class is open with no size limit, will be posted on Friends Social media. If the class has a cap, only students who have signed up for the class will be sent a materials list.
All Zoom virtual events will be recorded and will likely be posted on Friends of Sheldon Jackson social media pages at later dates so even if you cannot come to a class or talk when it happens, you may have an opportunity to watch online.
