Special congratulations to Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum Board President, Rosemary Carlton, on her receipt of the Volunteer of the Year Award from Museums Alaska at the Joint Museums Alaska/Alaska Historical Society Conference in Nome earlier this month. Carlton retired from her position as Curator of the Sheldon Jackson Museum in 2009 and has remained involved ever since – organizing special events, taking care of administrative tasks, assisting with the Friends Silent Auction & Annual Meeting, supporting acquisition of artifacts and educational programs, advocating for the Alaska State Museum, including the Sheldon Jackson Museum in the face of budget cuts, meeting with scholars and academics,  baking delicious things for public receptions,  always being available to answer any institutional history-kinds of questions, and much more! Carlton was nominated and then selected for the honor by an Awards Committee and clearly, the award is well deserved! Thank you for all that you do, Rosemary!
